P8: Danish Emergency Management Agency

Danish Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) is a governmental agency under the Ministry of Defence. According to the Danish Preparedness Act the principal task of the Emergency Management Agency is to manage the National Rescue Preparedness Corps, to supervise the national and municipal rescue preparedness and to advice the authorities on matters of preparedness. The national rescue preparedness has a staff of some 600 persons. About 170 of these are employed in the central Emergency Management Agency. The rest are employed at the Agency's six rescue centres and three schools.
